If you were among the millions of style-savvy Target shoppers who lined up around the block for the Missoni craze or any of the other limited designer collections, mark your calendars for more high-end designer collaborations for the holidays.
This time, upscale retailer Neiman Marcus – whose annual holiday catalogue items are often the epitome luxury and excess – will bring some of that lavish style to the chic, but cost-conscious Target customers.
Fashion icons such as Oscar de la Renta, Marc Jacobs, Marchesa, Carolina Herrera, Jason Wu and Rodarte, and Diane von Furstenberg will be among the designers who contribute to the 50-item collection ranging in price from $8 to $500. Most items will average around $60.
The collaboration announcement pushed Target shares up 2%. Shoppers can preview the collections on Oct. 16 and can expect to see the collection in Target stores starting Dec. 1.
Target says they will be more prepared for a rush both in stores and online to avoid mishaps that surrounded the Missoni launch. Shoppers may be limited in the number of designer collection items, to prevent resale on sites such as eBay.
