LulzSec Reborn claimed responsibility for posting information from 10,000 Twitter accounts to Pastebin. The accounts are from account holders who have used TwitterGif, according to a report by PCWorld. TwitterGif is a third-party app that allows users to share animated GIF’s.
LulzSec Reborn is an offshoot of the defunct hacker group, LulzSec. Although the group had announced it had disbanded a year ago, it seems they have simply rebranded according to tweets by Anonymous, a well-known hacker group. LulzSec is reported to also be indirectly connected to Anonymous, which most recently took part in a hack of the Justice Department.
LulzSec Reborn has not given a reason for the Twitter hack.
The online account hack comes on the heels of three major hacks from last week, which included LinkedIn, eHarmony, and Last.fm.
