Ahead of Friday’s U.S. government report of March unemployment numbers, payroll services firm ADP said that the private sector added 209,000 new jobs.
According to ADP’s national employment report, the economy has been adding an average of 207,000 new jobs per month in 2012.
Small businesses added more than 100,000 jobs in March. Job growth occurred in multiple sectors, ADP reported. Service providers, manufacturers, and construction also gained positions.
The official monthly unemployment rate will be released Friday and is projected to be at 8.2%, a decrease of 0.1% from the previous month.
March marks the 26th straight month with positive increases in private employment, according to ADP. The numbers have continued to increase since plummeting to approximately -800,000 in early 2009.
“I would hope that job growth will be even more robust for the remainder of the year,” said Carlos Rodriguez, President and CEO of the ADP, in the press release.
The Automatic Data Processing (ADP) group also made revisions to previous months’ estimates. December to January was revised up by 9,000 to 182,000 and January to February went up 14,000 to 230,000.
